Tests

Tests (activity bar / View → Tests) is the structural view of what you can run. The panel title in the UI is Tests.

  • Suites expand on demand (children load lazily) so large projects stay responsive
  • The list is virtualized for scale
  • Live filter helps you narrow by name, status, or tag (Test Tags, Force Tags, Default Tags, and [Tags])

From the Tests panel you can run:

  • A single test
  • A suite
  • All tests
  • The current file
  • Failed tests from the last relevant run

After a run finishes, each test’s beaker icon and status dot use the same colors as the toolbar run chip: green for pass, red for fail, amber for skip. Toolbar Run still targets only the open .robot editor suite — not a text selection. To run one test from the editor, click the play control left of that test’s name, or use Run → Run Test at Cursor. Use the Tests tree when you need a suite node, failed tests, or a file that is not open. Tree Run / Run Failed / Re-run use the run configuration selected in the toolbar (see Run configurations).

For very large estimated runs, Robot Studio asks for confirmation before starting (Settings → Execution → Large Run Threshold).
